A Year of Creativity, Healing, and Hope at Dar al-Kalima University
When we look back on this year, it’s easy to first remember the hardships — the uncertainty, the longing for peace. But when we pause to truly reflect, what shines through are the remarkable accomplishments that have taken place through Bright Stars of Bethlehem’s steadfast support of Dar al-Kalima University.
A Journey Through Film and Resilience
Noor Hodaly, a 42-year-old filmmaker from Palestine has a story that intertwines personal history with a deep passion for storytelling through film. Born in 1983, Noor's early life was profoundly affected by the Gulf War. In 1991, her family was forced to leave Kuwait, eventually finding a new home in Bethlehem, Palestine. This life-changing experience shaped her perspective and fueled her ambition to capture the human experience on screen.
A Journey of Art and Healing
Mishleen has officially completed her Master's degree in Art Therapy, marking a significant milestone in her academic and professional journey. As the first student to graduate from the Art Therapy program at Dar al-Kalima University, Mishleen has not only embraced her studies but has actively contributed to the field through her research and practical projects.
A Pioneer in Palestinian Art and Culture
Faten Nastas Mitwasi, born in 1975 in Bethlehem, is a prominent figure in the Palestinian art scene, known for her contributions as an artist, curator, and educator. Inspired by her father, Fawzy Nastas, a renowned sculptor, Faten's artistic journey began at a young age. In 2011, she obtained her Master of Fine Arts from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, solidifying her commitment to the arts.
Donor Story: Chris Cowan
Hello, my name is Chris. I remember the day I had the privilege of meeting Haneen and going to her village with Pastor Mitri Raheb and the Bright Stars of Bethlehem board. Haneen graciously gave us a tour of her village, Jubbet Ahd Dhib. At the time, the village was poor and also experiencing hard times.
A Culinary Journey Of Passion And Identity
Bassem Hazboun's culinary journey began with the inspiration of his mother, who skillfully prepared a variety of dishes ranging from Middle Eastern to French cuisine. Her encouragement and freedom to experiment ignited Bassem's passion for culinary arts, leading him to pursue a Hotel Management Diploma from Bethlehem University and further education in hospitality programs.
