Watch Party

On behalf of Bright Stars of Bethlehem, we sincerely appreciate your willingness to partner with us by hosting a Watch Party for our 6th annual virtual fundraising gala, the "Hope Abounds Gala." Your support is vital in empowering the next generation of creative leaders in Palestine. This inspiring event will take place on Saturday, September 13th, at 5 P.M. PDT, 6 P.M. MDT, 7 P.M. CDT, and 8 P.M. EDT.

We view Watch Parties as both a fun and strategic way to raise funds for Bright Stars of Bethlehem and to build a community around our mission. Our goal is to raise awareness and support for Dar al-Kalima University, the first and only university of arts, culture, and design in all of Palestine.

WATCH PARTY INFORMATION

  • To create a fun-filled setting for people to gather together.

  • To further inform and update the guests about our organization and the critical work we support in Palestine.

  • To generate enthusiasm and financially support BSB.

MISSION

  • Invite people who want to learn more about our mission or have the means to contribute and/or connect BSB with others who can (pastors, community leaders, etc.)

  • Ensure that all significant donors have been invited to at least one solidarity gathering.

  • Utilize the power of invitation and personal influence to bring new people into the BSB story,

    to educate and inspire them to give.

  • Allow a deeper, personal, face-to-face relationship with potential and existing donors, with a

    commitment to BSB at the center.

PURPOSE

HOW IT WORKS

  • Gather an hour or more before the actual event for conversation, drinks, appetizers/meal (host

    choice). This allows plenty of time for mingling and late arrivals. Consider serving Palestinian

    food, if possible.

  • If available, have a slide show or videos from DAK running on the video screen that will be

    used to view the Gala.

  • Shortly before the start of the Gala (timing to be determined) guests should be gathered in

    front of a computer or TV screen to be ready to watch the show.

  • For background music, we suggest playing Palestinian artists such as Georges Lammam:

  • Name tags for guests

  • Envelopes for people who choose to bring or write a check

  • Brochures and general information about BSB

  • Printed sheets with the QR code for registration, donation, and raffle

  • BSB pens and promo items

  • Digital Invitation, links, and instructions for the event

  • We also honor your Gift In Kind if you turn in your receipts or claim an amount for the costs of your Watch Party.

    Two young Palestinians try to record a demo for a music competition inside a noisy, crowded refugee camp. While failing to record because of the chaos of their surroundings, they discover a creative way to allow them to meet the deadline.

  • BY THE SEA

    Nahid wants to celebrate her husband’s birthday while he is on the run from Israeli soldiers, however, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, it is really difficult for Nahid to get all the ingredients needed to bake the birthday cake. Will Nahid be able to celebrate her husband’s birthday with him in their secret hideout?

  • IN THE WAITING ROOM

    Hussien — a 30-year-old Palestinian Arab with Israeli citizenship after being evacuated in 1948 — escorts his freshly bereaved 70-year-old mother Rashida to her medical appointment in an Israeli hospital waiting area. While Hussien works on an assignment on his laptop, Rashida — who hasn’t left her house in three months — tries to socialize with others in her limited Hebrew.

  • MAR MAMA

    Haunted by her mother’s death and recurring attacks by Israeli forces on her city, a young girl becomes obsessed with death. To distract her, her father makes a stop-motion film. However, his attempts fail and the girl finds nothing other than imagination to escape from reality.

  • THE DEER'S TOOTH

    The film centers around a young man from a refugee camp who embarks on a perilous journey in order to fulfill his little brother’s wish: To throw his milk tooth into the sea.

  • THE FIRST DINNER

    Siwar and her father are sat on the dinner table face to face. An encounter after 15 years of absence. Could what once was, still be? A somehow non existent relationship between a father and his little girl is redefined at the dinner table.

  • Doors open at 7 P.M. EDT. Hors d'oeuvres, desserts, and authentic Yemen coffee will be provided.
