Bright Stars of Bethlehem Scholarship Funds allows you make space for a person in need in a program that matches your concerns. By providing a scholarship you can support services for a youth, elder or family in these programs:
Your support will keep quality, life-affirming programs accessible to the youth, elders and families who live under the constant pressure of financial insecurity and the stress of military occupation. Your gift will not only help keep hope alive in the town where Christ was born 2000 years ago, it will help spread hope to people living in despair today.
Most importantly, when you give you will show that you care about your youth's, elder's or family's personal well-being. You will demonstrate in a tangible way that she or he is not forgotten. All recipients contribute to the financial costs of their program, but they cannot bear the costs alone. There exists a large financial gap between what recipients can afford and the actual costs of delivering these high-quality services. This is why Bright Stars of Bethlehem is seeking caring, generous people who are moved to help. Since Bright Stars of Bethlehem is uniquely connected with the programs being funded, we can assure you that your donation will make possible programs in which your recipient is participating, and that all funds given are used for the purposes for which it was given. | Program Name | Program Activities | Participants | If given at one time: | If given in monthly contributions: | | Bright Stars Program for Children & Youth | Out-of-school enrichment programs such as clay animation, folk dancing, chess, unicycling, rap music and swimming; Bright Stars Summer Academy | 300 boys and girls ages 6-16 | $360 | $30 per month | Ajyal "Generations" Elder Care Program | Home and hospital visits by parish nurses; weekly educational and spiritual activities; regular recreational and social gatherings; senior health education events | 350 mobile and home-bound seniors aged 65 and older | $600 | $50 per month | Azwaj "Young Families" Program | Educational and one-on-one gatherings to meet social, spiritual, educational, and recreational needs | 30 young families | $1,200 | $100 per month | | Dar al-Kalima College | Advanced and accredited training in the non-traditional disciplines of arts, multimedia, communications and tourism studies; Associate's degree program | typical students are young women and men ages 18-22 | $1,500 (half) or $3,000 (full) | $125 per month or $250 per month |
